Bloody Brilliant Zombie Cocktail
Perfect for surviving the apocalypse—or at least numbing the realization you didn’t save the good records.
cocktail shaker
Jigger or measuring spoons
Hawthorne strainer
Tall glass or zombie glass (14-16 oz)
Bar Spoon (if floating overproof rum)
Ice lots of ice
- 1 ounce Light rum
- 1 ounce Dark rum
- 1 ounce Pineapple juice
- 3/4 ounce Fresh lime juice
- 1/2 ounce Grenadine
- 1/4 ounce Falernum or orgeat syrup
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- 1/2 ounce 151 rum floated
- lime wheel, maraschino cherry, mint sprig optional garnish
Add all ingredients except the overproof rum to a shaker with ice.
Shake well until chilled (10–12 seconds).
Strain into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.
Optional: Float the overproof rum over the back of a spoon for that fire-starting effect.
Garnish however you like—mint, cherry, lime, or full Winchester chaos.
Why It Works
This is a slightly tamer take on the tiki-style Zombie, making it approachable at home without losing the tropical mayhem. The dual rums bring layered complexity, the pineapple and lime juice create a bright, juicy punch, and the falernum or orgeat delivers that island sweetness with subtle spice. Grenadine adds blood-red drama and balance, and Angostura bitters wrap it all in a warm, spiced finish. The optional float adds showmanship (and kick) without needing to light anything on fire… unless you want to.
It's exactly the kind of cocktail Ed would hand Shaun while trying to cheer him up in the middle of an undead siege. Comforting, fun, and just a little reckless.
