Notes
Why It Works
The Blood Oath Spritz is a slow, elegant burn - bitter, lush, and intoxicatingly beautiful. The Campari brings that medicinal, eternal bitterness; the pomegranate and blood orange deliver a sensual sweetness, and the elderflower liqueur lifts it with fleeting grace. Prosecco and tonic breathe life into it, sparkling and temporary, while aged rum grounds it in centuries of warmth. Like Only Lovers Left Alive, this cocktail is all contrast: old and new, bitter and sweet, ancient and alive. It’s indulgence balanced by decay—civilized hedonism in liquid form.Pro Tips & Variations
-
Make it moodier: Add ¼ oz cherry liqueur for more depth and a darker red hue.
-
For a lighter hand: Swap aged rum for white rum or omit entirely for a softer spritz.
-
Zero-proof version: Use NA aperitivo and pomegranate juice; top with sparkling cider or tonic.
-
Presentation trick: Burn the rosemary sprig just before serving—the smoke lingers like a ghost of centuries past.
