Passionate for movies
It all started with a simple idea: movies and drinks are better together when shared with friends, old and new.
How it began...
Way back, when people still went to theaters on a regular basis, and you couldn’t buy drinks at movie theater bar, and you had to sneak in your own rum or vodka or whiskey, we were having a hard time getting anyone to go with us to the movies. But, while at happy hour one night before a movie, we called up friends and asked them to come join us for drinks, and Cocktails and Movies was born!
For the next five years or so, a core group of avid movie-goers met every few weeks to get together for cocktails and movies when a major/fun movie opened. This was all done by Evite (ask your parents), and usually took place on Sunday afternoons to enjoy afternoon patio hours and less crowded theaters. And because most of our friends had real jobs and couldn’t leave them early for Friday happy hour cocktails and movies…
By 2010, the website www.cocktailsandmovies.com was born. It was basic, with basic graphics, and basic content. But, it was written by some amazing people – who now work at some amazing places and have forgotten all about us… Each week we’d have the newest trailers, cocktail recipes and movie reviews, as well as looks at movies many have forgotten in this age of on-demand movies and streaming. By 2019, a major health issue caused the owner of the site to shut down, promising to bring it back in early 2020…
The return...
Four years later, we have finally put our foot down to say, “Hey, people! You’re missing some really good cinema. And some great cocktails. And great times with friends. COME OUT AND JOIN US!”
Our mission...
At CocktailsAndMovies.com, we want to bring people back to the movie theaters. It’s that simple. We live at the crossroads of thrilling cinematic journeys and the vibrant world of cocktails. Born from a tradition of sneaking spirits into theaters and toasting to cinematic adventures, our platform celebrates every aspect of modern day movie-going culture, from blockbuster hits to classic cocktails. From tipsy Sunday matinees to opening night forays, our mission is to enrich your movie-watching moments, reigniting the magic of movies as a shared experience for those who believe that some films deserve more than just a home viewing, enhanced by the perfect drink in hand, and maybe new friends…
Come join us when we have our events. We promise to make things fun and exciting. And, as we continue to grow, we’ll bring you more and more exciting things. We can’t say what. We just know we have a vision, and we’ll get there. And we want you along for the ride with cocktails in hands at the movies.
