The Night Audit Mocktail

- 1 ounce Tart cherry juice
- 1/2 ounce Orange Juice
- 1/4 ounce Maple syrup
- 1 pinch Ground cinnamon
- Ice
- Orange peel or cherry for garnish
Brew a strong black tea and let it cool completely.
Fill a mixing glass or cocktail shaker with ice.

Garnish with an orange peel or cherry.
Why It Works
The backbone of The Night Ledger is the black tea. It gives the drink tannin, structure, and just enough weight to make the whole thing feel more like a cocktail than a dressed-up juice. Tart cherry adds a rich, almost noir-like depth of color and flavor, while orange keeps the drink from becoming too brooding. Then the maple syrup and cinnamon soften the edges just enough, adding warmth without turning the drink sticky or overdone.
It also works because the ingredient list is normal. Nothing here requires a specialty bottle shop, a chemistry set, or a lecture. You can build this from grocery-store ingredients and still end up with something that feels intentional, distinctive, and properly adult. That matters. The whole point of a drink like this is that it gives you the ceremony and character of a nightcap without drifting into kiddie-drink territory.
