The Green Jacket Julep
This is a very approachable home cocktail. If you can muddle mint without massacring it and pour bourbon into a glass with confidence, you are in business.
- 2 ounces Bourbon
- 1/2 ounce Peach liqueur
- 1/4 ounce Fresh lemon juice
- 6-8 Fresh mint leaves
- 1/4 ounce Simple Syrup
- Crushed ice
- Mint sprig for garnish
- Thin peach slice for garnish
Add the mint leaves and simple syrup to a julep cup or sturdy rocks glass.
Gently muddle the mint just enough to release the oils. Do not turn it into lawn clippings.
Add the bourbon, peach liqueur, and fresh lemon juice.
Fill the glass halfway with crushed ice and stir briefly to chill.
Top with more crushed ice until it forms a mound over the rim.
Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a thin peach slice or lemon wheel.
Serve immediately while it is ice-cold and your opinions about golf movies still feel completely correct.
Why This Cocktail Works
What makes The Green Jacket Julep work is that it respects the spirit of a julep without being shackled to it. The bourbon brings the weight and warmth you want from a proper weekend-sports cocktail. The mint cools everything down and gives it that clean, fresh top note that makes juleps feel timeless. The peach liqueur adds a soft Southern roundness that fits the mood without making the drink taste like candy, and the lemon quietly keeps the sweetness under control.
The result is balanced, refreshing, and just elevated enough to feel worthy of the occasion. It drinks like something you could sip outside while watching Amen Corner, but it also works beautifully once the broadcast ends and the couch session begins. This is a cocktail for scoreboards, debates, near misses, and the sacred act of ranking golf movies with more conviction than any of us should probably have.
