Let’s get into February’s first real new slate.
Last Weekend in Review
Last weekend (Feb 6–8) showed that January momentum isn’t just about studio machinery, it’s about audience loyalty.
Send Help held strong at the top, but the real story continues to be Iron Lung, which remains in the top five after a strong debut. The self-made, creator-driven horror project has proven that fanbase-driven theatrical releases aren’t a novelty, they’re a legitimate lane. It doesn’t need a $100M marketing machine when it has an audience that shows up.
Meanwhile, holdovers like Shelter and the long-running juggernauts Avatar: Fire and Ash and Zootopia 2 continued to demonstrate that brand familiarity still prints money.
The box office right now isn’t sleepy. It’s layered. And that makes this Valentine’s weekend even more interesting.
New in Theaters – Major Wide Openings (Feb 13, 2026)
According to BoxOfficeMojo’s domestic release calendar for Feb. 13, here are the major wide releases you should be talking about this weekend:
Wuthering Heights
Directed by Emerald Fennell and starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, this new adaptation of the classic Brontë novel arrives with mixed reviews: critics applaud its ambition and chemistry, but some call it an emotionally uneven take. It’s widely projected to be the big Valentine’s weekend theatrical draw, with some estimates suggesting a $50–55M domestic debut. (unless women eschew their men and go with other women, a la Fifty Shades…)
GOAT
Sony’s animated sports comedy – featuring voices from Gabrielle Union, David Harbour, Jennifer Hudson, and Stephen Curry – opens wide this weekend. Early reactions have been positive from critics, which bodes well for family and weekend matinee traffic.
Crime 101
A heist/crime thriller with a cast including Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry, and Barry Keoghan. This one comes in as a traditional adult genre contender that could surprise if previews connect.
Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die
Our Tuesday Night Movie Club next week! Directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Sam Rockwell, Zazie Beetz, and Juno Temple, this sci-fi adventure has been noted as one of the more curious wide openings this weekend due to its unusual premise and cast appeal.
