Omaha

Animal Farm
Yes, Animal Farm is also on the board as a wide release this weekend. That alone gives the frame some oddball texture. Depending on how it is positioned and reviewed, it could either become the “wait, that’s out?” curiosity play or get steamrolled by the much louder movie wearing designer sunglasses and emotional damage. Still, it is part of the mix.
Casa Grande
Casa Grande is the other wide release in the mix. This is the kind of title that risks getting overshadowed in a crowded frame, but crowded frames also create strange little lanes for movies that know exactly who they are for. Sometimes the movie everybody ignores on Thursday becomes the one people discover by Saturday.
Box Office Forecast: May 1st-3rd, 2026
1. The Devil Wears Prada 2
$78M to $98M
This is the cleanest bet on the board. The awareness is massive, the cast is familiar, the timing is strong, and the commercial hook is obvious. It looks like a real event opener.
2. Michael
$28M to $40M
After a $97.2 million opening, it is not going to vanish in weekend two. The question is how front-loaded it was and how much audience overlap Prada 2 creates. Even with a notable drop, it should remain one of the weekend’s major players.
3. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
$12M to $18M
Mario keeps doing Mario things. It already has a huge domestic total, it still owns the family lane for audiences not chasing newness, and it has proven it can survive bigger newcomers.
4. Project Hail Mary
$8M to $13M
This thing is the smart, stubborn drunk at the bar who refuses to leave. It may keep sliding, but it slides slowly, and it still has a specific adult audience that does not care about couture warfare.
5. Omaha or Animal Farm
$4M to $8M
This is the messy slot. One of the weekend’s other wide openers should crack the Top 5, but it likely comes down to which title has the clearest pitch by Friday night and whether audiences want drama or curiosity.
New Movies on Streaming This Weekend
If you are staying home, the streaming side is not dead either. Recent at-home arrivals include Netflix’s Apex, The Wolf and the Lamb on VOD, My Own Normal, and Dirty Hands, both on Prime.
Apex is still the most obvious “Friday night, pour something strong, and stay on the couch” option. It is a Netflix thriller with Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana, which is already a decent sales pitch before you get to the wilderness-hunt setup. The Wolf and the Lamb looks like the darker, folklore-tinged alternative if you want your home viewing to feel a little more cursed.
